Basically, Iron Man and Jack of Hearts were captured by aliens, who scanned them to determine their powers.

But the rocket-skates are totally win. Also, you may notice that in close quarters braking/changing direction using the jetboots, Tony uses a lot of the same 'skating'-based moves as a hockey player.
Or figure skater....
