Cap-Iron Man Reverse/Big Bang FAQ Post

Have some questions about participating in the Cap-IM Reverse Bang or Big Bang? If they're not answered in our Event Guidelines, try here!

⭐ What platforms do I need to be on to participate?
All participants are required to have an AO3 account to sign up to this event—if you don’t have an account, you can request one here (please note that it may take up to a week to receive your invite).

Other than that, you're golden! There's no need to be a member of/following any of [community profile] cap_ironman's community platforms to participate in the Bang, though that will make it easier to keep track of the event. However, it is your responsibility to check your emails regularly so that you don't miss out on important information.

⭐ Can my fanwork count as a fill for another challenge too?
No, not for this event. Please don't use your Bang fanwork as a fill for another fandom event, including bingos or charity auctions.

⭐ Can I sign up for this Bang multiple times?

You can participate a maximum of twice overall in this Bang. This includes both submissions and claims, but does not include pinch hits. Choose your combination wisely - you can:
  1. participate by sending in two drafts to the Bang (which means you can't claim anything later in the Bang) OR
  2. participate by claiming two works in the Bang (which means that you can't have submitted a draft earlier in the Bang) OR
  3. send in one draft submission and then claim one work

It is strongly suggested that before signing up a second time or taking a pinch hit when you're already participating, you carefully consider your other responsibilities, RL schedule, and the timeline for other events you're in.

⭐ What kind of fanwork is eligible for this Bang?
Have a look at our guidelines for an overview of what kinds of works are welcome in [community profile] cap_ironman events.

⭐ For the Big Bang, my fic isn't 50% done. Can I still send my draft in?
Yes—as long as you have the minimum word requirement and you're absolutely sure you'll be done by the posting month, please do submit your draft!

The Big Bang is a collaborative event, so it's important to consider your future partner when signing up. As a guideline, we ask that you have 50% of your story written by the draft submission due date to ensure a happy collaboration, but the important thing is that you feel confident you can finish the story in time.

⭐ What exactly are the rules around creator anonymity?
Check out our guidelines on anonymity and reveals.

⭐ What can be expected from a collaboration?
Every collaboration will be different—that's part of the beauty of signing up to work with a potential stranger. The level of communication and collaboration between team members is to be negotiated amongst themselves, but at minimum all participants must communicate clearly with their partners during the important stages of the event (e.g. after claims and before date claims and posting), and let partners know if there will be times when they are uncontactable.

Please keep in mind that:
  • your partner may not be able to meet all your expectations
  • graciousness and kindness go a long way
  • communication and compromise are key

⭐ Does my fic need to be beta read?
We do not require fics to be beta read for any of our cap-im events, including the Bang. While your fic doesn't have to be beta read, we do encourage it, and have a list of active Steve/Tony beta readers that you can find here.

⭐ What's with this Masterpost Information Submission Form?
We require one team member to collate the team's links and details so that they can fill out our Masterpost Information Google Form on the team's posting day before midnight Eastern Time. We are utilising Google Forms as it is accessible without making an account, and most people have filled one out.

The mods will then use the submitted information to create a Dreamwidth and Tumblr masterpost for each team! This is for archival purposes, as well as to stagger posting of works in the comm and share them with our followers.

Previously, teams posted the masterpost or had the option of the mods posting on their behalf.

⭐ What should I do if I have an event question or run into issues?
Get in touch with the mods! We are here to help you in any way we can. Whether it is right after claims, during the creation period, or at the very end near posting time, don't hesitate to reach out and let us know what's up. Please email [email protected] or contact us.

Don't be intimidated; we welcome contact with participants, and would much rather hear about a potential issue before things escalate.

⭐ What happens if I need to default?
If you cannot make your posting date and need to drop out of the event for any reason, please let us know as soon as possible! We understand that due to unexpected issues, you may need to ask for an extension, or there might be some mitigating circumstances that mean you are unable to post.

You can read our defaulting guidelines here.
