Happy Canada Day

Uhh American Day of freedom and stuff that will be on the fourth of july celebrating independance.....

and the awesomeness of Captain America.

So Baskin Robbins has Captain America dedicated ice cream stuff, and I hear somewhere has doughnuts. Being Canadian we don't get this stuff but loook at this awesome ice cream in the linky which also doubles as a coupon that works for you Americans *pouts*

Anyone want to do some freedom prompt-festing?

I don't get that stuff either, but that icecream looks kinda scary, actually.

chocolate and vanilla I'll do, but you can keep the cherry flavour.
Though, after friends pikelets, I've been conditioned to avoid anything coloured blue. :/

Super-Soldier Swirl? That's kind of hilarious.

I think there totally needs to be a story where Tony is teasing the heck out of Steve about this. Tony is all, "What the hell are blue chips, anyway?" And Steve is all, "You had a Mr. Potato Head (http://www.toywiz.com/tonystarch.html) named after you. Your argument is invalid."

It sounds... really porny.

Easy enough to make at home though.

I was going to use blue smarties.

OMG. Tony Starch? That's just wrong.

I forgot it was Canada Day until a tourist told me. Must remember to fill out paperwork so my minion assistant gets over time for the stat.

Thanks for sharing! I may get some of that.

Cap has stuff over at Dunkin Donuts.

Aww can someone send me one of those shield cups? Contents unnecessary.
I don't think Dunkin Donuts even exist in Australia.

[identity profile] ewanspotter.livejournal.com 2011-07-02 07:26 am (UTC)(link)
I'd love to get one myself, but DD is more of an East Coast thing (with a few miscellaneous Midwest locations) and I live in LA. :(

[identity profile] brummel.livejournal.com 2011-07-02 08:55 pm (UTC)(link)
Really? That's strange. Last time I was home, they were pretty easy to find as far west as NM.

[identity profile] brummel.livejournal.com 2011-07-02 08:55 pm (UTC)(link)
Not that that's convenient to you :(

[identity profile] stebia.livejournal.com 2011-07-02 10:11 pm (UTC)(link)
I actually bought one of those donuts......can't say I would get another one.

[identity profile] dinahqueen.livejournal.com 2011-07-02 07:14 am (UTC)(link)
I'm sad! We have no Baskin and Robbins' around the area I live in. But maybe Dunkin Donuts. If it is, I need that shield cup to go with my Iron Man slurpee cup! :o

I never have baskin robins but I might eat just for the fact it's called "Super Soldier Ice Cream"

[identity profile] tabru.livejournal.com 2011-07-02 12:19 pm (UTC)(link)
I already bought a dozen Captain America donuts from Dunkin Donuts, as well as the First Avenger Tri Cup!

I'm so ready for this movie (and the fourth)!

[identity profile] ellex42.livejournal.com 2011-07-03 01:28 am (UTC)(link)
Ice cream from Baskin Robbins? I'm sorry to say you aren't missing anything.

[identity profile] savemoony.livejournal.com 2011-07-03 09:18 am (UTC)(link)
The lady at Dunkin was so confused when I walked in and just bought like twenty of the cap cups and walked out

Don't moan, at Least as a Canadian you get Wolverine (acknowledged as being one of the coolest heroes around).

As a Brit, all I get is Union Jack and Spitfire, and Marvel doesn't seem to like either of them :pouts:

Are there *any* Aussie superheroes? At all?

(and no, I don't count Wolverine's hideous accent in Pryde of the X-Men. Or his live-action actor.)

I can't even think of any supervillains that aren't dumb stereotypes.

Just to clarify, I have a natural Australian accent (NSW, if you want to be particular) and most people not from Australia, New Zealand or Britain think I have an English accent.

A thought... maybe it's because of the outfits? Someone wears spandex and a cape in Sydney and he'd either be laughed at or ignored.

[identity profile] taiyou_to_tsuki.livejournal.com 2011-07-03 03:09 pm (UTC)(link)
DC has the Ranger (basically Aussie Batman) and the Tasmanian Devil. Don't know about Marvel. (The first thing Google gives you if you search for "Australian superhero", incidentally, is this (http://www.captainaustralia.net/). I'm... Not sure how to feel about that.)

... Let's be honest though, would someone be able to wear a cape and spandex anywhere in the US and not suffer the same reaction? Or is the cultural gap really that big? >__>

(Also hello, I am shamelessly butting into this conversation due to boredom and a sliver of information to share. Just wave and I'll disappear.)

*waves* But don't disappear!

That link showed... quite possibly the dumbest thing I've seen so far this year. And I go to university...

I have no idea about anyones reaction to be honest.

Searching around I find... there is a Cap'n Oz... but he's a Brit.
also this guy: http://marvel.com/universe/Slipstream (depowered)
and http://marvel.com/universe/Lifeguard in Marvel.

For DC... what you found, and an elseworlds Batman (anyont know that one? Any good?)

[identity profile] taiyou_to_tsuki.livejournal.com 2011-07-03 03:56 pm (UTC)(link)
After clicking that link, I stared in horror mixed with fascination for about ten seconds before closing the window. Let's not speak of this ever again.

Well, at least that's something. My country has no superheroes in either universe, as far as I know. When it comes to superpowers and strange mystical artifacts, Norway seems to be the place to go rather than Sweden.

Also, because I'll probably never engage in a conversation where this is more relevant:

106 Tasmanian Devils.

Gateway and Eden Fesi. They're Aboriginal Australians. I don't know much about Gateway, he's a teleporting mutant, but Eden was in Secret Warriors and he's a lot of fun. He teleports too.

Some pictures here - mostly Eden, some Gateway.

Captain Britain, Pete Wisdom, Captain Midlands, Elsa Bloodstone and Faiza Hussain are all looking at you disapprovingly. You should read the Wisdom mini and Captain Britain and MI:13. :D

[identity profile] cat-13145.livejournal.com 2011-07-03 04:33 pm (UTC)(link)
I did and hated it. Fazia and Wisdom were O.K. (though I'd hestiate to call him a hero like Captain America ect) I suppose, but the rest left me cold.

[personal profile] valtyr 2011-07-03 04:35 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh. Sorry, I was misled by your complaining about how you didn't get any superheroes. I didn't realise you meant you just didn't like the ones we have.

[identity profile] cat-13145.livejournal.com 2011-07-03 04:37 pm (UTC)(link)
combination of the two. I dislike most of the ones we have, and let's face, we hardly have the cream of the crop, (sorry feeling cynical at today)

[personal profile] valtyr 2011-07-03 04:39 pm (UTC)(link)
I adored Captain Midlands and liked Pete, and I'm very fond of Faiza. I think Elsa's pretty fun too. Sure, Marvel's US-centric but I think the British heroes are great.

[identity profile] cat-13145.livejournal.com 2011-07-03 05:30 pm (UTC)(link)
They are (or some of them), but just seem to be ignored or used limitedly.

[personal profile] muccamukk 2011-07-03 04:51 pm (UTC)(link)
OMG! Faiza is my favourite. And there's Meggan, who I love, and Brian, god I love Brian, plus a bunch of X-Men. Plus like what, 30 years of Marvel UK?

Spider-Woman is English.

Peggy Carter in the movie.

[personal profile] muccamukk 2011-07-03 04:54 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, right. She would be, being Brian's sister and all.

I never could keep track of the X-Men, tbh.

I am delighted Peggy is one of ours now. :D

...if Sharon is going to be a relative, maybe she'll be British too!

[personal profile] muccamukk 2011-07-03 05:03 pm (UTC)(link)
She probably will be. I think they'll try to keep up the international cast.

[identity profile] marinarusalka.livejournal.com 2011-07-03 06:15 pm (UTC)(link)
Captain Britain had a nice appearance in the recent issue of Iron Age, too. With very pretty art.

Canadians also get all of Alpha Flight (Northstar!). And Deadpool.

You get 30 years of Marvel UK heroes, Spider-Woman, Betsy Braddock, Peggy in the movie, Spitfire, Union Jack, MI:13 (which is my favourite comics in the history of comics and the reason I read comics at all), and Peggy in the movie. And some people I've forgotten.

[personal profile] muccamukk 2011-07-03 05:00 pm (UTC)(link)
And Professor X in the movies.

Admit Patrick Stewart Rules!!!!

[identity profile] cat-13145.livejournal.com 2011-07-03 05:28 pm (UTC)(link)
You said Peggy in the movie twice (sorry in Comics, she's a US agent). We also have Destroyer, who I do like. Which Spider-Woman do you mean?
muccamukk: Wanda walking away, surrounded by towering black trees, her red cloak bright. (Normal?)

[personal profile] muccamukk 2011-07-03 06:51 pm (UTC)(link)
ah. This is why beta readers are good.

I know she's from the US in the comics, so is Professor X, but there's going to be a lot of English!Peggy fic.

Jessica Drew, sorry. I meant the current one, but it's a confusing title, isn't it?
