Cap_Ironman Weekly News, Week Ending 11 September 2011

Hey everyone, it's time for the [community profile] cap_ironman/[livejournal.com profile] cap_ironman newsletter. I tried to find some interesting Cap, Iron Man, or Avengers links to post here, but I didn't come up with much. I don't know, maybe my Google is broken. If you're interested in how DC's relaunch affects Marvel, Newsarama's interview with Marvel's vice president offers some insight (and some jabs). Meanwhile, Bleeding Cool finds the New Avengers' tribute to 9/11 to be 'bloody weird'. And I can't recall which Avengers set photos have been posted, so have this pic spam (so much hugging!) and this promo art.

Any and all topics are allowed in the comments here. Chat away, and get to know your fellow Steve/Tony fans.

Finally, if you're a new or recent member, hello and welcome! Our rules are here, and in the profile; this includes our warnings policy, so please read. If you're interested in the ship, you may want to read the Ship Manifesto, and consult the list of Slashy Moments. If you're planning to write for the comm, there are some tips on writing the pairing here, and the Avengers in general here; if you're having trouble finding a beta, or would like to offer your services as a beta, our beta list is here. If you're looking for the comm archive, it's Tales of Suspense, and it's automated - you can create an account and upload your fic. If you're looking for a particular story, why not try [livejournal.com profile] cap_im_finders? If you have any questions, you can comment here or PM a mod, that's me, [personal profile] muccamukk, or [personal profile] valtyr.

I swear I had news on Tuesday or something, but now I can't remember what it was. Must not have been that important.

I'm prepping for [livejournal.com profile] wincon. Mostly by giving my liver pep talks. Ghost tours, Winprom and panels, oh my! Some friends and I are staying in New Orleans for a few extra days, so fun times ahead!

Anyone else here going to Wincon this year? Anyone?

*crickets*

... Bueller?

This will be it's second year panfandom! The ghost tour is a hang-on from its days as a Supernatural convention, but the con itself is still small and intimate enough (200-300 of your closest friends!) to make it a staple. We're in New Orleans this year, which kind of begs for a ghost tour in any case. I believe someone else is arranging a cemetery tour. I also expect there to be unofficial tours of notable bars (notable for being within walking distance of the hotel, at least, but apparently there's some haunted bars too. Handy, that). We had a ball on the ghost tour in Chicago last year—ghost tours with fangirls are the best.

ETA: I got distracted by happy. Whoops!

Ghost tours differ based on type. The ones we usually go on are bus tours of the city that pass by known haunted areas without going into the haunted location, but some places do walking tours, or specific tours through known haunted houses. New Orleans is especially known for them; some places even offer Anne Rice tours, based on her vampire novels, and of course it has a really rich culture and history to pull from. (Ghost & Dinner tours homg!)
