Alright well… I tried to type up the next chapter of Harsh for axolotl_lan but there was a problem. This is a bit from the Harsh storyline that doesn’t take place for a LOOOONG WHILE but this damn conversation WOULDN’T GET OUT OF MY HEAD! So I gave in and wrote it out and tried something new with it. It’s placed in canon, as is the rest of the storyline. Steve and Tony have been together ever since right after Disassembled FYI (I’m working on that chapter too >.>)

o Yeah. You ok? You sound… tired.
o No I’m fine. I’ll be fine. I just wanted to hear your voice.
o You still stressed out about that board meeting? I told you, they’re nothing without you.
o I know. I just… You calm me down.
o (laughter) Me? I can’t tell by the way we argue sometimes.
o That’s because I never say what I really feel.
o You say plenty. You should just stop talking all together. That’d make an interesting date. What would we talk about if not repulsor manifolds?
o Hmm.
o But everything’s ok? Need me to come down there and beat someone up for you?
o (laughter) (coughing)
o Tony?
o Nah kitten. It’s nothing like that.
o Then what’s it like?
o I just miss your face.
o Well, you’ll see it soon right?
o Yeah.
o Just take care of yourself… ok?
o Sure. I’ll give myself an upgrade.

o I know. That’s… I’m sorry.

o I just always mess everything up. We’re finally goin’ along fine and I… (coughing)
o Tony what? You sound… You’re slurring a little.
o No! It’s not… that, I… haven’t slept.
o When was the last time you ate?
o I don’t know.
o You eat something after you hang up the phone ok?
o I’ll try.
o Where are you Tony? Are you at Maya’s place?
o I’m gonna… go to sleep for a while. Then I have to be near
o That’s a good idea. Get some rest.
o Steve?
o Tell me.
o Things change. You know that (You know that better then anyone). But… just because it’s not what you’re used to, or your head starts pounding and you can’t think straight, doesn’t mean that the future won’t be ok. That the future won’t leave you breathless. Because it will! It has. Every time I think… (coughing)(choking) Every time I think I’ve seen it all, or that the future will just be left to the killers and the people without hearts in their chest, every time I think I might lose you and how I could never survive that, I know… The future will go on. And more amazing things will happen. Even if I’m not by your side to see them.
o Tony! What are you--
o And you’ve seen more of what the future can hold than any man I know. You’re going to be fine. You’ll go on living, because the future in your eyes is so perfect and beautiful and just once I wish I could see it the way you do! Maybe after this…

this is... Right before Tony takes the Extremis Dosage. He thinks he might not wake up from it and so while Maya is in the other room getting the package he sent, and he's turning off half the safeties for the program... he also calls Steve to at least hear his voice one more time.
So technically it ended happily... I mean- Tony didn't die!
(he gets yelled at PROFUSELY when he finally sees Steve again... but he's alive and now all- Extremis-ed out!)

And then my brain continued the storyline (it'll be typed up eventually--- it's part of Harsh-verse) I OBVIOUSLY have a far way to go considering Harsh Part 3 is still pre-homeless drunk arc.
But like I said... Tony really wanted to call Steve in my mind, and so I had to write it out!

That whole section was happy for me, I just loved how it read as a conversation. The realism to it, and even Steve offering to beat someone up for him. I also like that Steve picked up on the wrongness of the call and started trying to find Tony. ^__^ Yay!

The conversation wouldn't leave my head alone. Tony kept insisting that he would call Steve... no matter what happened, just to make sure Steve knew for sure how he felt.

So, is there a Harsh#4? I sure hope it is, because I sort of need my fix of "I'm fine"!Tony and "Don't know how to fix you"!Steve. Hurt/comfort is totally my cup of tea and your story hit all my right buttons :)

I have to say NO there isn't a Harsh #4-- Harsh-verse is on hiatus while I work with Axolotl_Lan on our crazy MOTH story. I do promise you that I have the story-line all in my head and WILL write more once Moth is finished. Moth has a lot of hurt/comfort as well, but it's an Mpreg story. If that's not your cup of tea I completely understand and hope you'll stick it out until I have a chance to write more Harsh.
