I also loved using clothing as a metaphor for the armor, and my single favorite thing about the story was the push and pull of the conversation, and how it revealed them. Particularly how Don Antonio may have felt forced to this, he may even have connived at it, but that makes him none the less unhappy to do it, and none the less grieved to lose his country and family.
